A U.S. court has ruled that Puerto Rico’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.
Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage was a constitutional right in all 50 states, but failed to apply the ruling to Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. territory with a population of 3.5 million.
A panel of three Circuit Court overturned a previous ruling which upheld the ban.
Same-sex weddings are expected to begin in Puerto Rico next week, on July 15.
