A group of Mormons is planning a mass resignation from the church this weekend, according to a report from Reuters.
Reuters writes that several dozen Mormons will gather in Salt Lake City on Saturday and sign a “Declaration of Independence from Mormonism,” with another 100 expressing interest in attending. The church’s active anti-gay stance is listed as one of the reasons for the resignation.
Despite the Mormon Church’s long antigay history, a group of Mormons marched in gay pride parades in Salt Lake City and New York City this year. In New York, marchers held a sign proclaiming, “We love you. Sorry we’re late.”
