

The director stepped down as the producer for next year’s 84th Academy Awards ceremony after making the gay slur. The star of his new film, Eddie Murphy has also stood down as the host of the evening.
Jane Lynch told E!Online: “I wasn’t offended. I’m OK. I think humour is such a personal thing, and you put a microphone in somebody’s face, they’re going to say something that offends somebody.”
The director apologised saying: “I’ve gotten a well-deserved earful from many of the people I admire the most in this industry expressing their outrage and disappointment over the hurtful and stupid things I said.”
He further added: “It was a dumb and outdated way of expressing myself.”
The award-winning actress said she does not think that Hollywood was homophobic, but gay actors will never land leading straight roles.
