Having a wedding budget to stick to when planning your big day is so important but deciding how much money to set aside is difficult. The more money you have, the more you can have (supposedly). So, couples tend to save for a while leading up to their wedding. However, it seems that wedding budgets are shrinking in 2022, so if you’re looking to plan your wedding on a tighter budget, you’re in luck! Here are a few reasons why smaller wedding budgets are so popular in 2022.

Being thrifty is cool

When it comes to shopping for wedding outfits and décor, it seems buying pre-loved items for your wedding has risen in popularity dramatically over the years and is also a great way to save money and add a unique touch to your big day. Meaning couples are now choosing to visit thrift stores and charity shops for second-hand antiques and outfits for their wedding rather than buy their wedding bits and bobs from normal shops. Personally, we love this idea, as it’s not only a more cost-effective alternative, but it’s also eco-friendly, as buying second-hand is undoubtedly better for the environment. Such a great way to reduce your budget!

DIY costs less

Starting during the pandemic (as many couples couldn’t get out to order things for their wedding), many couples decided to include DIY bits as part of their wedding, specifically for décor, and realised that DIY projects are great for reducing your wedding budget. Which is another reason we believe wedding budgets have significantly began to shrink in 2022. Fun crafts which add a personal touch to your big day and cost less money – sounds like the perfect alternative to us!

Post-pandemic discounts

Many budget wedding venues and suppliers provide couples with special offers and discounts, which will help to reduce the wedding budget in question, as venues and suppliers alike are trying to let it be known that you can have the wedding of your dreams regardless of the budget you’ve set aside! Now that couples and wedding planners are aware of this, it’s safe to say they take advantage of this, and rightfully so, why pay full price when you can get your wedding bits sorted for a better price?

Intimate weddings are fab

During the pandemic, couples were forced to have smaller weddings due to Covid restrictions, and now, almost two years on, it seems the intimate wedding agenda has only risen in popularity. There’s just something so special about intimate weddings, as it allows you to spend more time and make more memories with your closest friends and family. All for a cheaper price – what more could you want for your big day?

Ultimately, it seems the reason that wedding budgets are shrinking is because couple’s have realised there are more cost-effective alternatives that generally means that don’t have to spend as much money on their wedding and can spend that money elsewhere. And if f you could have the wedding of your dreams for a better price, who wouldn’t choose that option?
