In response to the refusal by UEFA to permit Munich’s Allianz Arena to be illuminated in rainbow colours, our friends at Copenhagen Pride have launched Proud Pitch, an Instagram filter which turns the green grass of a football pitch into rainbow colours when directed at your TV.
Lars Henriksen of Copenhagen Pride explained, “Human rights are not politics. There are two positions: Either all people have the right to rights – or the opposite. And if you stand in opposition, you will be on the wrong side of history.”
“Allow me to be frank; we passed the argument about sport and politics having nothing to do with each other a long time ago. The legendary athlete Jesse Owens proved that point to us all in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and UEFA’s argument for rejection is but a fig leaf.
“It is my sincere hope that people across the world will unite and show their support by using our PROUD PITCH Rainbow filter when watching the upcoming matches. Sport has an amazing ability to unite us and it may seem like a small gesture but no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
The Instagram filter was developed by Copenhagen based creative agency Worth Your While. Fans from all around the world can find it in the Instagram filter gallery by searching for PROUD PITCH or via Copenhagen Pride’s social accounts and website.
Happy to help.
Worth Your While’s creative director Lukas Lund told us, The PROUD PITCH is a great example of how creativity can give people a voice. Nothing beats when communication ideas become tools to express opinions on things happening in culture.
“And this tough situation is certainly something that requires that people raise a flag. We are happy to help our friends from Copenhagen Pride with this Instagram green screen hack.”
