In response to the refusal by UEFA to permit Munich’s Allianz Arena to be illuminated in rainbow colours, our friends at Copenhagen Pride have launched Proud Pitch, an Instagram filter which turns the green grass of a football pitch into rainbow colours when directed at your TV.
Lars Henriksen of Copenhagen Pride explained, “Human rights are not politics. There are two positions: Either all people have the right to rights – or the opposite. And if you stand in opposition, you will be on the wrong side of history.”

“Allow me to be frank; we passed the argument about sport and politics having nothing to do with each other a long time ago. The legendary athlete Jesse Owens proved that point to us all in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and UEFA’s argument for rejection is but a fig leaf.
“It is my sincere hope that people across the world will unite and show their support by using our PROUD PITCH Rainbow filter when watching the upcoming matches. Sport has an amazing ability to unite us and it may seem like a small gesture but no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
