Drag queens have empowered people across the world to express themselves in a way that sticks two fingers up to restrictive gender stereotypes. Thanks to the various global iterations of RuPaul’s Drag Race, many can count themselves among the planet’s top influencers, but which queen is the most influential of all?

A new study by beauty retailer, Justmylook, has looked at social media influencer earnings, searches and inspiration to find out all about the influence drag queens have worldwide.

The study reveals the top 10 most influential drag queens by analysing their engagement rates, earnings and followers on social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and Cameo.

Check out the league tables right here.

Violet Chachki takes the top spot as the most influential Drag Queen in the world. As the winner of the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2014, it comes as no surprise that this American queen is adored by fans.

In second place is Adore Delano, with over half a million YouTube subscribers and one of the highest rates on Cameo, this queen is in high demand when it comes to content, fans can’t get enough.

In third place is drag superstar Gigi Goode followed closely by Alyssa Edwards and Bob the drag queen in the top five.

Influence comes with money which is why the study also looked into the earnings of each Queen.

There are some huge Instagram earnings here with some Queens potentially earning more than a yearly salary per post.

Violet Chachki comes in at the top-earning up to £15,000 per Instagram post. Four posts a month on those earnings and that’s nearly £60,000 for one month’s worth of work.

Gigi Goode follows in second place with over £12,000 per post, it comes as no surprise given she has such a dedicated fan base.

Adore Delano may earn half of what Gigi Goode earns with just over £6,000 per post, however, it is still a huge amount of money.

Other queens with the highest Instagram earnings are Katya Zamolodchikova (£5,801,97 per post), Miz Cracker (£4,871.47 per post) and Courtney Act (£2,900.99 per post).

The potential earnings of these queens are huge, and the sky’s the limit for those wanting to pursue a career in social media and content creation.

Methodology

To determine the most influential drag queen, our friends at JustMyLook have pulled data from different drag queens from the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Chile, the Netherlands and Spain to find out who ranks the best from metrics including Instagram followers, Instagram engagements, the average amount they can earn per Instagram post, youtube followers and cameo prices. Each metric was ranked individually to create an overall ranking score combined.

Based on social engagement, the number of followers and number of posts and using Influencer Marketing Hub we were able to predict the earning potential of each drag queen on Instagram.
