Love Happens Here – a journey through London past and present.

Pride in London has launched a brand new miniseries celebrating LGBT+ history and starring 13 prominent figures from our community. Presenter Riyadh Khalaf takes a ride in the special Pride in London taxi with each of the celebs and chats to them about all things LGBT+.

Khalaf revealed:

“Getting the chance to partner with Pride in London was such a pleasure and a passion project. As a young gay man who is new to this incredible city, it was such an eye opener to hear real life accounts about how queer life in the capital has morphed and changed through the years, for better and for worse.”

Topics explored include the highs and low of activism, acceptance and love in the capital. From coming out and safe spaces to what it’s like to be bisexual or trans, the series explores a rainbow of issues through the fascinating interviews.

Highlights include a cab journey with Sir Ian McKellan and Union J singer Jaymi Hensley, in which they discuss their contrasting experiences of growing up gay in the UK.

Other stars involved include Coronation Street’s Charlie Condu, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, DJ Munroe Bergdorf and TV personality Dr Ranj Singh.

Co-chair of Pride in London Alison Camps told us:

“Being able to share our stories is an extremely valuable asset for the LGBT+ community as we connect to our history, and come together to build a vibrant and exciting future too.”

The series, Love Happens Here – A journey through London past and present is available to watch now on the Pride in London YouTube channel.
