CoverCoronation Street actor Charlie Condou has joined forces with campaigning charity Stonewall to help promote fatherhood – whether that be in relation to gay dads or fathers of LGB individuals. The gay father of two young children is helping to promote Stonewall’s ‘Thanks, Dad!’ competition, which launches today (7 June). The social media competition asks lesbian, gay and bisexual people and their dads to share positive stories about fatherhood. The competition closes on Father’s Day, 17 June, when one entry will win four tickets to London’s Madame Tussauds for a ‘Day out with Dad’.

Entries musy be made by YouTube, Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag #ThanksDad. From today until 16 June, each day each day will win a ‘Some People Are Gay. Get Over It!’ t-shirt. On Father’s Day, Charlie Condou and Stonewall Chief Executive Ben Summerskill will select the overall winner. Charlie Condou said: “Until recently many gay men will have grown up thinking fatherhood was something they’d never experience. As a dad of two young kids, I know that parenting is parenting, regardless of sexuality. I love being a dad, and I’m immensely grateful that today nobody has to feel like the door to family life is closed to them.”
