A bill calling for the death penalty for ‘aggravated homosexuality’ which was dropped from the final session of Ugandan parliament may yet be debated in a special session tomorrow.
The bill was due to be debated yesterday but was taken off the agenda.
Campaigners’ initial jubilation has now been overshadowed by rumours that the bill may still be debated in a special session on Friday.
If this special session does not go ahead, the bill may still be presented to the new parliament.
If this is unclear whether or not the bill can be presented in its current form or if it will have to be written as a new law.
