The POTUS tweeted that the military “cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption.”

Donald Trump has posted a series of tweets announcing a ban on transgender people serving in the U.S. military.

This decision is a reversal of the policy introduced a year ago under Obama, in which the Pentagon ended its ban on transgender people serving openly in the military.

The news comes despite Trump’s previous claims that he supports LGBT rights.

Since he became POTUS, Trump has rescinded guidance stating public schools should allow transgender students to use their preferred bathrooms and now he has reinstated the military ban.
