When a simple photo can speak a thousand words.
Thousands of members of Mexico’s “pro-family” hate group Frente Nacional por la Familia took to the streets across the nation over the weekend to protest the impending passage of marriage equality.
In a powerful moment at a rally in Celaya, Guanajuato a 12-year-old boy jumped in front of a crowd of 11,000 protesters.
The iconic image was captured by photo journalist Manuel Rodríguez.
“I have an uncle who is gay and I don’t like that they hate him,” the boy later told an amazed Rodriguez, reports dailydot.com.
The protest, organised by Frente Nacional por la Familia (National Front for the Family), was a result of President Enrique Peña Nieto’s move to legalise same-sex marriages nationally. But what is most amazing at the moment is that a boy had the courage to do what most would have easily backed out off.
