Homebuyer priorities have shifted greatly over the course of the past year, with the third lockdown accentuating the need for a home space that radiates a sense of calm and creates a relaxing environment for living and working. With this in mind, Storey Homes is thrilled to unveil the first show-home, The Harter, at its charming development, ‘The Place’.

Situated in the Bedfordshire town of Kempston, the three-bedroom show home has been meticulously designed by Haus Interiors, using a combination of organic colours and clever designs, to cater for the needs of today.

Heather Holl, Sales and Marketing Director at Storey Homes comments: “Our homes are having to work harder to fulfil all the tasks we demand of our space. Our homes have become our sanctuaries, and The Harter provides a perfect example of a modern family home that caters for all needs. Ideal in the current climate, where the lines between work and day-to-day life can become blurred, The Harter boasts three light and spacious storeys to offer zoned living, as well as a generous expanse of outdoor garden space.

‘The property has been thoughtfully dressed by Haus Interiors; helping to transform this luxurious three-storey house into a stylish and functional family home – one that promotes a sense of calm and practicality in an otherwise tumultuous period.”

Upon entering the classically designed home, a large hallway leads to an impressive living room and kitchen/dining area. French doors form an extension through to the garden, and flood the respective rooms with plenty of natural sunlight. A convenient downstairs cloakroom completes the ground floor, offering ample storage space for coats, shoes and schoolbags. Upstairs on the first floor, the property features two generously sized bedrooms – one benefitting from an en-suite – and a well-appointed family bathroom. Finally, the top floor features the main bedroom, complete with a private en-suite and a separate study – perfect for parents with home-working lifestyles.

Felicity Stevens from Haus interiors comments on the design concept for this stunning show home:
“The development is set in the heart of a bustling community; with a local school and fantastic links into the city -making The Harter an idyllic choice for a family home. With this in mind, we ensured every room was designed for each member of the family, differentiating the rooms using colour, texture and styling that was specifically tailored to the space. The colour scheme for this beautiful home was an important consideration, particularly in the current climate, where working from home is set to be on the agenda for quite some time.

“We therefore felt it was important to promote a sense of calm and relaxation, and we achieved this through a neutral colour palette in the communal spaces. In order to combat WFH and home-schooling fatigue, we ensured each room enjoyed its own individual colour scheme; helping to encourage productivity for every member of the family.”

The kitchen has been designed to be the heart of the home, and a multifunctional space for every member of the family. Felicity comments on how Haus Interiors addressed this: “We dressed the room with plenty of texture and layers to create a sense of depth and warmth; with wood panelled wallpaper and a hint of teal green, hand painted wall art, floor to ceiling curtains to accentuate the French doors, and a bespoke upholstered seating area – offering a comfortable space to relax, as well as eat and entertain. In the kitchen, we installed Bonket seating in the form of a stylish upholstered bench; adding to the sense of opulence in this downstairs area.”

The main bedroom is situated on the top floor, and has been designed to exude luxury; offering a sumptuous getaway for parents to relax, read and sleep. Felicity comments: “We have achieved this look by using a deep teal feature paint, a king-size bed with deluxe doubled layered headboard, and marble table lamps. The room is then completed with fitted wardrobes and a handy separate office space, which could double as a stylish dressing room.”

She continues: “Bedroom two naturally lends itself to become a stunning guest bedroom, with pops of blush pink with silver accents, solid white wooden furnishings, and a double bed featuring a winged headboard and contrasting upholstered pads. Finally, the third bedroom has been designed to suit the needs of a child who loves to play, with an interactive pay area and bespoke chalk board that can be used for both learning and play.”

Each and every room in The Harter has been cleverly designed to maximise the sense of space and light. This has been paired with a top-tier specification to cater to the needs of Twenty-first century buyers. The kitchen is sleek and contemporary, featuring taupe units with soft close doors and drawers, a range of integrated appliances, LED downlights and Karndean flooring. Bathrooms are equally well-appointed, with a selection of appliances courtesy of Roca, full height Porcelanosa wall tiling, and a chrome heated towel rail.
