“Sandra is a hugely talented artist – very much the real deal”  Gerry Diver – Producer

Everest is the new EP from one of Scotland’s most observational musicians, Sandra MacBeth. It is the follow up to her groundbreaking album Conjugal scene, which earned her a place on the stage with such acts as Pink, KT Tunstall, The Proclaimers, Runrig, Eddi Reader, Horse, Lucy Spraggan, swapped guitars with Mumford and sons, and proudly performed at the Usher Hall for his Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The title for the follow up EP comes from “everyone having their own mountain, their own Everest to climb”, Sandra said. “Everest was inspired by a deep longing and sadness. We have all been affected by depression in some way or another, maybe even losing somebody we love along the way. The songs on Everest are filled with joy, hope and longing, my way to remember, honour and share that love.”

This album has a much more reflective and inward looking kind of songwriting than its predecessor and it perfectly shows off her development into a thoughtful and intelligent songwriter.

“The whole EP is trying to highlight depression – people don’t talk about it enough – and the songs are hopeful and quite positive. I am trying to show people they aren’t alone. As such I’ll be donating a percentage of funds to the Samaritans charity who provide assistance, counselling and general support for those suffering from depression and struggling at this time.”

Sandra worked with award winning producer ‘Gerry Diver’ (Van Morrison, Shane MacGowan, Tom Robinson, O’Hooly & Tidow) along with Bassist Lorna Thomas.

You can catch her supporting Horse on her UK Winter Tour, Manchester Band on the Wall, Edinburgh Queens Hall and Dundee Rep theatre November.

Everest is available on iTunes.
