Diamonds are smaller than bricks, and Lots Holloway is smaller than most other humans but, as if to prove that small things come in great packages, the diminutive songstress’s latest release has not only come close to exhausting this reviewer’s gags about Holloway’s stature, but has also demonstrated that the Polly Pocket of the pop world is in the form of her life.

It was always going to be tricky to hit the heights of the joyous Lights Come Down but, with Lose Myself, the best thing to come out of Cornwall since the pasty I had for yesterday’s lunch has hit the jackpot again.

Lose Myself is a syncopated toe-tapper of a track, with beats reminiscent of the early 80’s ska revival and a hook to die for. What’s more, the deceptively simple lyric “If I’m gonna lose somebody, I’d rather lose myself” is one of those classic lines which you can’t believe hasn’t been written before. I’ve Googled it: it hasn’t. Phew.

If Lose Myself doesn’t put a smile on your face and a spring in your step, you need to take a long hard look at yourself. Download it from Spotify right now by clicking THIS HANDY LINK or you’ll have me to answer to.
