polishfootballPolish group Teczowa Trybuna 2012 (Rainbow Stand 2012) have approached the organisers of Euro 2012 with the request that lesbians and gay men have separate seating throughout the tournament.

Their request is based on a concern that they may experience hostility from other fans during the competition, which is to take place in Poland and Ukraine next year.

The group has received criticism from other LGBT campaigners however, who argue that separating gay fans from straight fans will further exacerbate separatism and put them in more danger, as they would be singled out.

A stadium in Gdansk has already turned down Rainbow Stand’s appeal. The group has continued in their campaign however, and openly label themselves the first gay fan club for the Polish national team.
