policelineA Glasgow police officer has won a homophobic discrimination case after being bullied by a superior.

PC Tracey West, 42, endured a six-month harassment campaign at the hands of Sgt Michael Service. He called her a ‘dyke’, insisted that her sexuality was an illness and made offensive comments about the fact that she was in a civil partnership. West duly made a complaint against Service in 2007 after six months of bullying.

Since the complaint was made, West has emigrated to Australia and Service has resigned. A tribunal held today ordered Service to pay £7,500 to West and Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary to award her £2,500.
