Bisexual star Pam St Clement, who has played Pat Butcher on the hit soap for the last 25 years, is to finally learn how she will leave Albert Square.
It was revealed yesterday that she is to die of cancer at Christmas. She will reportedly learn of the tragic news, and keep it to herself before revealing she is dying at a party then going home to die peacefully in her sleep.
A source told the Press Association: “There was no way bosses wanted Pat to sign off with a grisly death. It was always going to be a dignified farewell.”
There are reports her death will also see the return of her sons David and Simon at her farewell party.
A BBC spokeswoman said: “We’re not going to comment. There’s been so much speculation and we don’t want to spoil the surprise for our viewers.”
