g3awardslogoSquare Peg Media, the leading diversity publishing and events company in the UK, have announced the shortlist for the inaugural g3 and Out In The City Reader Awards which will be held in London’s Landmark Hotel on 26th April 2013.

In the first combined awards ceremony of its kind, the readers of the highly successful gay and lesbian magazines g3 and Out In The City will vote in a range of categories celebrating the individuals, companies and groups that are outstanding in the field of LGBT equality.

They have also announced that the Royal Bank of Scotland have signed a 3 year deal to headline sponsor the awards Andi Keeling from RBS said:

“RBS is delighted to sponsor these awards because we understand the importance of inclusion and we value difference. We recognise how diversity benefits our employees, our customers and our communities.

Through our sponsorship, we are trying to create change for the future. It’s not just about celebrating the winners now, but about creating a cultural shift for the future and a legacy we leave for the next generations.”

Standout nominations include the Royal Air Force for their Freedom LGBT support network, Ben Cohen as the Out In The City Campaigner / Politician of the Year and the BBC’s Jane Hill as the g3 Broadcaster of the Year.

Boom Ting, editor of g3 said: “g3 has been rewarding outstanding contribution to the community with it’s Reader’s Awards for the past five years. This year we’re taking the awards a step further with an official ceremony. With our growing readership as a paid-for title, we hope to see votes coming in from all across the country, rewarding those who are a credit to the LGBT community.”

The awards will be hosted by a Coronation Street star Charlie Condou plus actress and model Sophie Ward in the Grand Ballroom followed by a drinks reception and party for the winners.

David Hudson, editor of Out In The City said: “Here at Out In The City, we are firm believers in acknowledging and rewarding the outstanding individuals and businesses that have impressed our readers over the previous 12 months.”

“Out In The City has recently re-launched as a nationwide, paid-for title in October and we’re looking forward to receiving the votes for the awards from our growing UK readership.”

Other high profile nominations include paralympian Claire Harvey for the g3 Diversity Champion of the Year, fashion designer Henry Holland as the Out In The City Innovator of the Year and Gok Wan as the Out In The City Celebrity of the Year.
