The Pride cookie came with the caption, ‘Proudly support love!’
Since it was uploaded almost 211,000 have liked the post, roughly 64,000 have shared it and more than 33,000 people have commented on it.
While the majority of the comments are in support of the LGBT community, many pledged to boycott Kraft or Oreo cookies as a result of their stance on the LGBT community.
The rainbow-colored cookie will not be sold in stores and was created simply for the advertising campaign during Pride month, Oreo spokesperson Basil Maglaris told ABC news.
‘As a company, Kraft Foods has a proud history of celebrating diversity and inclusiveness. We feel the OREO ad is a fun reflection of our values,’ she told the news station.
Fetching a staggering $1.5billion in global revenues and as the world’s top selling cookie of the 21st Century the brand had cause for celebration.
