ussoldiersSMALLA panel has voted to allow Officer Derek Morado to continue to serve in US Navy despite being shown proof that he is gay.

Morado’s sexuality came to the attention of his superiors after a report filed by a colleague in 2009 which showed he had posted photographs of himself kissing another man on a social networking site.

A bill repealing the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell act, which prevents gays and bisexuals from serving in the military, was signed into law last year. However, the bill will not be implemented until the summer.
