Preparations are underway for next years LGBT History Month and it will begin with a pre-launch event at the Oval cricket ground in London on Monday.
The all day event is free to attend and features a range of exhibitors and speakers for the theme which will be promoting inclusion and tackling homophobia and transphobia in sport.
The Government Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone will be talking and answering questions about how the Government intend to tackle homophobia in sports.
Co-Chair of LGBT History Month, Sue Sanders said: “Whilst many of the organisations involved in the delivery of LGBT History Month don’t have a natural affinity with the world of sport, many of them have worked hard to embrace the theme in the lead-in to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
The evening events will see a host of entertainment from Pink Triangle theatre, LGBT sports people exploring inclusion in sport, and a performance from the London Gay Men’s Chorus.
Sue Sanders said: “we will see even greater strides in the visibility and safety of LGBT people in sport in the coming year.
“LGBT History Month is thrilled for the second year to be tackling this very thorny issue of homophobia and transphobia in sport, with our partners Pride Sport.”
