An Australian and New Zealand producer of feminine hygene, Libra, has caused controversy with their new advert for tampons.
The advert, which depicts a transgender character and a woman in a nightclub toilet has been branded transphobic by many gay rights activists. In the advert the two women are putting on mascara, lipgloss and adjusting their bras in a competitive fashion before one of them pulls out a Libra tampon, leaving the transgender women to walk out of the toilet in ‘defeat’.
The advert has faced criticism on the company’s facebook page, which has been flooded with comments.
The brand has yet to respond to media calls.
