In the last decade, the number of people receiving HIV specialist care has increased every year, with a quarter of people living with HIV in the UK being unaware of their status.

Leading up to World AIDS day on 1st December, the first ever European HIV testing week (22nd to 29th November 2013) was developed to encourage people to talk openly about the benefits of HIV testing, and to generally raise awareness of the illness and to encourage those who may be at risk to get tested.

For early diagnosis and to reduce risk of infecting others, you can get tested at your local sexual health clinic or provided charities such as Terrence Higgins Trust, with many now offering home-sampling kits also.  The rapid test can provide an HIV diagnosis in less than 5 minutes. Londoners are able to receive free testing at 56 Dean Street.
