Mel B and Duncan James have been announced as the hosts for the 2016 RBS British LGBT Awards.

The Spice Girl and former Blue signer will co-host Britain’s biggest gay awards show in front of a star-studded audience in London on 13 May.

This year’s RBS British LGBT Awards is set to be the biggest yet and sees award nominations for a variety of LGBT celebrities including Years and Years frontman Olly Alexander, Boy George, Paul O’Grady, Clare Balding, Cara Delevingne, Great British Bake Off star Sue Perkins and Sam Smith.

Eastenders star Danny Dyer and Queen Icon Brian May are amongst the celebrities shortlisted for the ‘Straight Ally Award’ which was won by breakfast TV presenter Lorraine Kelly in 2015.

Olympic hero and straight ally Heather Stanning will face boxing champion Nicola Adams in the Sports Personality of the Year Award category. This category recognises sports stars – gay or straight – for promoting equality and diversity.

A series of accolades for LGBT charities, organisations and business leaders will also be awarded.

Speaking ahead of her British LGBT Awards hosting debut, Mel B said:

“I am really excited to be hosting the 2016 RBS British LGBT Awards next month. It is a fantastic event that recognises the LGBT people doing wonderful things and the straight allies who give so much support to the LGBT community. I’m proud to be part of it. It is going to be a brilliant night filled with surprises and a glitzy guest list that is just fabulous. The British LGBT Awards is the hottest ticket in town.”

Awards founder, Sarah Garrett, added:

“With such brilliant hosts and some great awards up for grabs, the 2016 RBS British LGBT Awards is going to be a night to remember.”

Meanwhile, former TOWIE star, Charlie King, will broadcast from the red carpet and report on the celebrity attendees and backstage gossip.
