Carl Austin-Behan, Manchester’s Lord Mayor, has claimed that he was victim of vile homophobic abuse from two young women outside last night’s Justin Bieber concert.

He said it was the first time he had ever had such language aimed at him and he will be reporting the alleged abuse as a hate crime.

Austin-Behan tweeted: “Just met 2 ladies who think it’s right to be homophobic at a Justin Bieber concert calling me a dirty f***** and a dirty gay @GMPCC @gmpolice.”

He told the M.E.N: “I am absolutely fuming about it all.

“We were walking past these girls as they were trying to buy tickets from a tout, and they were not happy with the prices the tout was quoting and started making awful comments about being gay.

“They were saying things like ‘I’m not paying that much to see that little f***** sing.’

“I turned round and said ‘I’m not being funny but you can’t say things like that.’

“Then they turned on me, calling me a batty boy and a f*****.

“They asked if I was gay. I said I was, I told them I had a husband and that I was also Lord Mayor of Manchester.”

Police confirmed that the incident has been reported to them and an investigation has been launched.
