An Instagram account documenting the transformation of a Northamptonshire home has attracted almost 4,000 followers – and landed its owners a ‘brand ambassador’ role.

Marc Pearce’s inspirational posts on @ourludlowbythewatertower chronicle the décor choices at the home he shares at Abbey Place in Roade with husband Ben.

The images, which demonstrate the couple’s flair for interior design, receive hundreds of likes and prompted Persimmon Homes to recruit Marc as a brand ambassador, meaning his posts are shared with the housebuilder’s 24,500 followers.

“This is our third Persimmon property,” said Marc, who works as a project manager for a housing association. “Our previous two houses were at Bedfordshire developments, but this time we have moved across to Northamptonshire to be closer to family.

“We wanted a four bedroom house, as we hope to have a family in the future, and were particularly drawn to stone-built and double-fronted houses. We spotted this one at Roade and it was perfect, the layout is everything we had been looking for.”

The couple quickly set about putting their own stamp on the new build, creating a stylish and sophisticated home with some quirky twists such as unusual artwork and decorative touches.

“We love that the rooms are really airy and spacious,” Marc said. “The living room and bedroom are both dual aspect, so they are flooded with light most of the day.

“In our previous house we toyed with the idea of having a dressing room, but really I needed that bedroom as a study. This house already has a dedicated study downstairs so we have been able to create a separate dressing room. It is great to have a place that doesn’t need to be kept perfectly tidy, leaving the bedroom to stay as a calm place to relax.”

Work continues to perfect the space, with Marc completing painting in the en suite shower room this week.

“We still need to tackle the hall, stairs and landing,” he said. “And then perhaps a few more tweaks!”
