Iconic model, Loose Women panellist, businesswoman, author, reality TV winner and former ‘WAG’ to Premiership footballer Dwight Yorke, Katie Price has added her name to the growing list of stars, politicians, football figures and fans who are supporting the #ComeOut2Play campaign.

The super-celebrity signed the campaign on Saturday morning, adding her 2.1 million Twitter following to the already huge social media reach of the game-changing initiative.

The total number of people now set to be reached when the Thunderclap goes off later this month stands at an extraordinary 28,173,310 people across social media platforms.

Katie Price was with former Manchester United player Dwight Yorke briefly in 2001 and gave birth to her first son, Harvey Price the following year.

The nation’s favourite tabloid sensation hasn’t offered any word on whether she personally knows gay or bi footballers who are concerned about coming out but she was keen to be involved in the campaign, suggesting that she can see why players might be worried about being open.

This week, the campaign received official support from the English Football League, with Chief Executive Shaun Harvey saying: “The EFL is pleased to support the upcoming Come Out 2 Play initiative, in order to help raise awareness, whilst also promoting the values of the game and ensuring football provides everyone with a safe and welcoming environment.”

Katie has worked hard for various campaigns in the past, often linked to raising awareness of her son Harvey’s medical conditions.

The 14-year-old battles diabetes after being born with the rare genetic condition Prader-Willi syndrome, as well as being blind and autistic.

Other celebrity supporters of the #ComeOut2Play campaign include John Bishop, Alan Carr, Piers Morgan, Sarah Brown, Saira Khan and Denise Welch.
