The judge who overturned Proposition 8 – which banned gay marriage in California – has admitted that he is gay.
Chief US District Judge Vaughn Walker has finally confirmed the rumours about his sexuality which began flying around at the beginning of the 12-day trial. He is alleged to have been in a same-sex relationship for the past 10 years.
He told reporters: “If you thought a judge’s sexuality, ethnicity, national origin (or) gender would prevent the judge from handling a case, that’s a very slippery slope, I don’t think it’s relevant.”
