The rapid rollout of the coronavirus vaccine and the government’s announcement of the easing of lockdown restrictions are being blamed for causing ongtravel.com, the travel division of OutNewsGlobal, to crash yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 24 February) with customers continuing to face difficulties with checking availability and placing bookings until 9 o’clock this morning.

Site visits were up by almost 600% compared with the previous week, with Greece and Israel topping the list of holiday searches. It is rumoured that a “travel corridor” is soon to be agreed between British and Greek authorities while the popularity of Israel as a summer destination can be attributed to the fact that the nation has already vaccinated around 90% of its population.

While many Brits have suffered financially during the pandemic, many of those who have remained in full time work have actually accumulated savings with spending options severely curtailed by lockdown. Many of those lucky savers are itching to head to the beach this summer and we’re grateful that so many of our readers are entrusting their holiday booking to OutNewsGlobal’s travel division.

We’re pleased to report that our colleagues at ONG Travel have increased the available bandwidth for ongtravel.com and that the site is now running smoothly.

Although there are many reasons to be optimistic about summer 2021 holidays, ONG Travel strongly recommends that you take out a travel insurance policy which includes cover for disruption and cancellation due to coronavirus.
