It’s National HIV Testing Week right now, which runs from the 18th-24th of November, and is a yearly event in the UK to promote the de-stigmatization of HIV testing and help raise awareness and stop the spread of the virus. The campaign is headed by the Terrence Higgins Trust, the nation’s leading HIV awareness charity.

Last year I was invited to help promote the week and I created a video on the subject, outlining the status of HIV in the UK and why it’s so incredibly important to get tested and end the stigma around HIV.

This year they’re giving out a free HIV test to anyone who wants one! All you have to do is head on over to their campaign website, where you can also find out more about this important movement.

Numerous celebrities have already been involved, including Prince Harry, and many are posting about the week on social media with #HIVTestWeek. The message of this year’s campaign is “Give HIV the Finger”, encouraging everyone to make sure they get tested. HIV rates are declining fast it’s true, thanks to Prep and Pep, but it’s only the beginning of an important movement to end the virus for good. It starts with me, and it starts with you!
