Military police are investigating a young soldier’s claims that he was sexually assaulted by three servicemen in a drunken attack, The Daily Mail reported yesterday.

It is alleged that the three men returned from a heavy night’s drinking to find the young squaddie sleeping in his room at Wattisham air station in Suffolk. They pinned him down and assaulted him until he ran from his bed screaming for help.

The Royal Military Police’s Special Investigation branch are investigating the claims.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman told the Daily Mail: ‘As there is an on-going investigation into this allegation it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.

‘Action will be taken against all those who fall short of the Army’s high standards.’

Wattisham air station is home to 3 and 4 Regiment Army Air Corps.

Prince Harry is stationed at the base but it is understood that he was not there at the time of the alleged attack.
