Two male penguins that are believed to be in a relationship are to be split up in a breeding programme as they belong to an endangered species.

Penguins, Buddy, and Pedro, at Toronto Zoo are showing signs or mating behaviour with one another.

Both are African penguins, and they are endangered with less than a quarter of a million left.

A zookeeper said: “They do courtship and mating behaviours females and males would do.”

Joe Torzsok, chair of the Toronto Zoo board said: “ It’s a complicated issue, but they seem to be in a loving relationship of some sort.”
