It’s always been known for its glitz and glamour. But now there’s an extra “g” to be added to the reasons to visit Vegas. That’s because of the warm welcome the city extends to the gay community from all over the world. For example, every October it hosts the city’s Pride event – with the 25,000-strong parade held at night to avoid the searing daytime heat. Plus all year round you’ll find events like pool parties and even a gay rodeo to enjoy.

Naturally, many of all the city’s hotels also really do roll out the red, or rainbow-coloured, carpet for their LGBTQI+ visitors. Here are five of the very best of them.

Encore at Wynn Las Vegas

Wynn is an international byword for luxury casino resorts, and the Las Vegas venue is the true flagship of the brand. Check-in at this hotel on the legendary Strip and you’ll find there’s your very own Pride concierge who can direct you to the city’s best gay bars, clubs, and nightlife strips. There are even special gay travel packages and an extensive LGBTQI+ section on their official website.

Luxor Hotel and Casino

The nearby Luxor may be most famous for its incredible recreations of ancient Egypt including a stunning Sphinx as well as a life-sized pyramid, but it’s also gained a great reputation for its gay events too. These include a weekly pool party called “Sunkissed Sunday” as well as a fashion show that’s held on the same day, in the hotel’s CatHouse restaurant and lounge.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

Sometimes also known as the Mandalay Gay Resort and Casino, here’s where to make for if you fancy your chances on the tables. Its casino was nominated in the past for a Gay.com travel award, with roulette being a big favourite here. The LGTBQI+ community often turns to online casinos that offer roulette games for real money, for example, as a safe space to gamble, and now with the inclusion of these venues and events in land-based casinos, its certain that the industry itself is becoming an overall safe space for all.

Flamingo

Recommending a hotel entirely themed around pink flamingos as a pick of our gay hotels may seem like a bit of a cliché – but stay there and you’ll soon see why it made our final list. There’s a real old-school Caribbean vibe to the place and it’s sumptuously furnished and decorated. In January it’s even playing host to Sin City Classic 2020, the world’s biggest LBGT+ sporting event.

Tropicana Las Vegas

Last, but not least, there’s Tropicana Las Vegas. It has all the credentials including being a member of the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce of Nevada and holds regular fundraising events to support human rights organisations. It’s also one of the smaller mid-range hotels for those wanting a quieter Vegas experience.

So, there you have it, five of the best places to stay when you’re in Vegas, where you’ll also find plenty to do while you’re there. Though, however long you stay, we guarantee you’ll never have time to fit it all in.
