‘Vita & Virginia’ take centre stage in new biopic.

The actresses will star in ‘Vita & Virginia’ which will tell the story of the love affair between writer Virginia Woolf and poet & novelist Vita Sackville-West.

Woolf and Sackville-West  first met in 1922, and began what would become a decade-long affair, although the writers were both married at the time.

Their romance inspired Woolf’s 1928 novel Orlando.

Speaking of their relationship, Vita Sackville-West’s son, Nigel Nicolson, said the book was a “most charming love letter”.

“The effect of Vita on Virginia is all contained in Orlando,” he continued. “The longest and most charming love letter in literature, in which she explores Vita, weaves her in and out of the centuries.”

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the movie will be directed by Chanya Button and adapted from a play by Eileen Atkins.

Green and Arterton played Bond girls Vesper Lynd and Strawberry Fields in back to back 007 movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Mike Goodridge, CEO of production company Protagonist Pictures, said: “We just love this witty and evocative screenplay by Eileen Atkins and Chanya Button. This is a playful and sexual Virginia Woolf, far removed from the gloom often associated with her, and Vita Sackville-West is a vivacious and flamboyant character who dominates high society in London in the 1920s.”
