I took a trip to the YouTube headquarters to join the Come Out For LGBT party!

In the UK today we often think of coming out as a thing that isn’t really a big deal anymore. We have gay marriage, we have anti-discrimination laws, so everything’s fine, right? The western world accepts LGBT people, so the fight’s over?

Unfortunately the answer to both those questions is no, and Stonewall’s campaign addresses the country’s current apathy towards LGBT attitudes and issues. I got the chance to visit Stonewall’s #ComeOutForLGBT party at YouTube Space London this month and celebrate the LGBT+ community with a host of amazing creators, so to get a little exclusive peek at what it’s like celebrating our community YouTube style, watch the video!

The Come Out For LGBT campaign is about reminding people how much work there still is to be done, and especially how powerful it is for those within and outside of the LGBT community to make gestures to create a safer space nationally and internationally for LGBT individuals.

Everything from public support of an LGBT movement to wearing rainbow shoelaces can make the difference between somebody feeling safe in their country and can affect global attitudes towards queer people.

If you’re interested in getting involved in their campaign you can do so here: http://www.stonewall.org.uk/our-work/campaigns/come-out-lgbt?gclid=Cj0KCQiAus_QBRDgARIsAIRGNGjU_3BIzjJStpi6ImqZhxQsQQHiNPhiaIX3F1qXEHRawE3igqslkuAaAvk4EALw_wcB

Whether in the closet, an ally, or an LGBT person, we can all #ComeOutForLGBT to show our community support and create a better, safer, more accepting world for everyone.
