Internet stars Buddy and Pedro, who shared a whole year together, have split, say zoo keepers at Toronto zoo.
The penguins were deliberately separated last month by zoo officials in a bid to make them reproduce as African penguins are an endangered species.
Tom Mason, Toronto Zoo’s curator of birds and invertebrates, said Buddy and Pedro’s relationship was a romance “social not sexual”. Buddy has since found a female partner but Pedro is still looking. He has been courting a female called Thandiwey, for some time but she is not reciprocating. The saga continues.
