My Future Family will focus on helping LGBT+ people find surrogates

LGBT+ people with dreams of having children will be helped at a special event in London tomorrow.

The My Future Family Fertility show, taking place in Covent Garden (Grand Connaught Rooms, 10am-4pm), will focus on providing advice to lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people.

Fertility and family planning experts will showcase the range of alternative methods to starting a family and there will be a major focus on surrogacy which continues to be one of the leading methods LGBT people choose when start families of their own.

However, whilst surrogacy continues to increase steadily year by year many face obstacles particularly in the UK.

Because of the difficulty finding a surrogate in the UK and long waiting times, as well as the legal framework that governs domestic surrogacy, many intended parents are seeking-out international surrogacy options.

There are around 4,000 surrogacy cases each year in the US and intended parents worldwide, including many from the UK, make-up a significant and growing share of this total.

My Future Family will offer several options for intended parents to learn more about surrogacy and how to get started in the UK and overseas.

Dr. Brandon Bankowski from Oregon Reproductive Medicine, who will be at the My Future Family show, said:

“For many intended parents thinking of getting started, the prospect of an international surrogacy journey can understandably be overwhelming.  We want bring intended parents closer to their family dreams by helping them clearly and transparently understand their options, the issues they will need to consider, and the choices they will need to make to get started.  We’ll share the practical steps and advice we know – having assisted many hundreds of intended parents – can contribute a successful surrogacy journey.”

My Future Family Show organiser Sarah Garrett MBE said:

“The My Future Family Show offers honest, expert advice about realistic, achievable alternative routes to parenthood for people from all walks of live who can’t use traditional methods to get pregnant. There’s lots of help out there for people who want it – almost too much – so we try to bring it all under one roof.”
