The news presenter who came out as gay in 2009 announced the news on Twitter that she is to enter a civil partnership with her live-in girlfriend, TV camerawoman Sara Shepherd, after 3 years.
Jane Hill tweeted: “Yes, Sara & I are getting hitched. Still a bit shocked I think – and hungover.”
The presenter also added on Twitter: “Thanks for SO many lovely messages.. Sorry I can’t reply to all. Suggestions for venues (London), designers, photographers all welcome!”
Miss Hill is an anchor on the BBC News Channel and has worked on many high profile stories including, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 and the inauguration of Barack Obama.
