George’s Bush’s eldest daughter, 29-year-old Barbara Bush, has come out as an advocate of gay marriage. She starred in a video for the Human Rights Campaign dinner on Saturday, calling for New York to legalise same-sex marriages.
Ms Bush’s appearance came as something of a surprise to many people, who did not expect a relative of the former Republican president to possess such liberal views. George Bush’s opinion of gay marriage has been much publicised – in 2006 he called for a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage in the US.
