A 28 year-old man was put under arrest on Friday in connection to the assault at a gay pub in Leicester in which two men were burnt, leaving one with ‘life-changing’ scars.

The assault occurred at the Rainbow and Dove pub in the early hours of Tuesday morning, the fire was thought to have been started in the garden.

Both men are still in hospital receiving treatment for their burns.  Police have said that there is no evidence to suggest the attack was homophobically related, or that they had been targeted by the offender.

Police are still appealing for any witnesses to the attack which took place on Charles Street.  Anyone with any information should contact DS John Farndon on Leicester (0116) 222 2222.
