Stonewall supporters were greeted by a group of extremist Christians this morning at their seventh annual Education for All conference.
The conference is aimed at tackling homophobia in UK schools. The demonstration which took place outside the British Library where the conference was being held was organized by the Core Issue Trust, a group which advocates ‘gay cure therapy’.
The group accused Stonewall of trying to ‘indoctrinate’ pupils through the education system and carried “Education not Indoctrination. Who’s the Real Bully?” banners.
Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill joked during his opening speech that all the group did was highlight the need for Stonewall’s continued work against homophobia.
