uganda3The parliament of Uganda has extended the spring session by one day in order to debate the bill which would consign those accused of ‘aggravated homosexuality’ to the death penalty.

The bill calls for the death penalty for HIV-positive individuals who have same-sex relations, those who have sex with ‘disabled’ partners of the same sex, ‘repeat offenders’ and those who have same-sex relations with minors.

The final scheduled session of Uganda’s eighth parliament was supposed to take place on Wednesday.

A petition to stop the bill has been signed by 1.4 million people worldwide.
