Tomorrow thousands of American students will observe a national Day of Silence to draw attention to the issue of homophobic bullying.
The Day of Silence is organised by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Alliance. It aims to send out a strong, high-impact message which every student can help convey.
The organisation urges students to remain silent at break times and between classes – but warns that some teachers may object to students remaining silent during class! Students are advised to check with their teachers beforehand.
