Schmidt questions whether, if all Americans have the same civil rights as Bachmann claims, then why can’t gay couples marry?
Bachmann replies “They can get married, but they abide by the same laws as everyone else… They can marry a man if they’re a woman, or if they can marry a woman if they’re a man.”
When asked by Schmidt why a man can’t marry a man, Bachmann replies “Because that’s not the law of the land… There is no right to same-sex marriage.”
Bachmann has historically been against gay marriage, in a 2009 interview on Fox News Sunday, the Republican slammed the state of Iowa for allowing couples of the same sex to marry.
