Get ready for the sequins to sparkle once again, with the new series of Strictly Come Dancing fast approaching.

Will Young is the second celebrity to be announced for this year’s line-up.

Former shadow chancellor Ed Balls was the first name to hit the ballroom floor, during an interview with Radio 2 host Chris Evans last week.

Of joining the hit dancing show, Will said: “As a fan of Strictly for years, I have always imagined myself on the show, but the timing has not been right… until now!

“Music is my passion and the dancing I have done has always been with a microphone in hand. Now there will be no microphone or band, just me, my partner and the dance floor.”

He also took to Twitter to express his excitement at the opportunity.

Will shot to fame after winning Pop Idol in 2002 and since then has gone on to have not only a successful music career but has appear in a number of film, stage and television productions.

He will no doubt be hoping to emulate his success and make it all the way to the final once again.

The third confirmed contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2016 will be revealed live on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on Wednesday 10th August.
