UgandasmallOne of the backers of the proposed Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill – which could be passed in less than 48 hours time – has criticised its proposal to bring in the death penalty for some homosexual acts.

Pastor Martin Ssempa says that although he wants MPs to pass the bill, he does not believe that the death penalty should be imposed for homosexual offences.

The bill calls for the death penalty for HIV-positive individuals who have same-sex relations, those who have sex with ‘disabled’ partners of the same sex, ‘repeat offenders’ and those who have same-sex relations with minors.
