UgandasmallReports say the Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill may have been dropped by the new parliament – because the offences it covers are taken care of by existing laws as well as within the proposed Sexual Offenses Bill.

The Anti-Homosexuality Bill calls for the death penalty for those who have sex with disabled people or minors and ‘repeat offenders’.

Information Minister Kabakumba Masiko told Uganda’s NTV: “The Cabinet Subcommittee… gave us a report yesterday and we did realise that there are many things that are in the bill that are covered by other laws that are already in place… And the law that is in offing, the Sexual Offenses Bill, will cover most of the other issues that were going to be covered.”
