Police are investigating an assault that occurred on Halloween as a hate crime.

A 19 year old man and a 27 year old man have been arrested by Long Beach Police after the attack near The Gay and Lesbian Centre of Greater Long Beach in front of several witnesses.

The attack occurred around 8:15pm after both victims in their late 50s left the centre.  The two men were approached by the attackers who used homophobic insults on them before the attack.

One of the men sustained a cut to his left eyebrow, a bruised hip and blunt trauma to his left hand.  The other was injured on his mouth and had some damaged teeth.

The investigation is being investigated by Long Beach Police in the US.
