IS78A 14-year-old boy has been left blind in one eye after a homophobic attack at his New York junior high school.

Kardin Ulysse was called “fag”, “gay” and “transvestite,” and other anti-gay slurs, according to a Department of Education occurrence report.

The New York Daily News reported that Kardin has already had two surgeries on his right eye since the June 5 incident, and that his cornea was badly damaged either by the punches or the shards from the broken lens of his eyeglasses.

“I can’t see from my right eye — nothing,” said Kardin at a press conference.

“The doctor says he needs a transplant,” Kardin’s father, Pierre Ulysse, is quoted as saying. “For me to send him to school with two eyes and come back with one eye is really absurd. I want the world to know about this.”

His parents are allegedly suing the city for $16 million. According to the Associated Press, the incident is being taken “very seriously” by the principal of Roy H. Mann Junior High School, who notified police. Both of the alleged assailants face both disciplinary action and a criminal prosecution.
