Knight Frank’s Global Buyer Survey 2020 has revealed that the COVID-19 crisis has fundamentally changed the way we live our lives. For many people their home has become a multi-dimensional hub from which they work, exercise, learn, socialise and relax.

Two thirds of those surveyed revealed that they are more likely to work from home post-lockdown, while 66% say that outdoor space has become more important. With demands on the way we use our homes rapidly expanding and people having had time to reflect on the way they live and use their space, choosing a new property suddenly has new expectations.

Situated just a stone’s throw from Canary Wharf, the newly unveiled show apartment at Notting Hill Genesis’ Dockside at Millharbour scheme has been thoughtfully designed by interior designers Vesta London. The two-bedroom apartment clearly showcases how homeowners can have the best of both worlds, with private outside space, well-sized kitchen/dining/ living areas and large bedrooms – all of which are flooded with light.

Stacy Winn, Creative Director at Vesta comments: “We have seen an increase in demand for work spaces to be incorporated into our designs. At Dockside at Millharbour, we wanted to create a home  that was clearly zoned, allowing prospective buyers to visualise how the space can be used. The brief was to create a welcoming atmosphere, to do this we added warmth to the existing white walls using warm grey tones and plaster pink that contrast well with the rich dark walnut flooring. This ensured we were able to keep the apartment feeling bright, whilst also creating a space people can see themselves living.

“The living area features an indulgent array of textures and finishes to emulate the luxury London lifestyle the apartment offers. The sofa is wrapped in a cosy velvet and is paired with a leather ottoman and plush floor rug for a refined yet luxury living space. To define the dining area, we added a vertical painted wall panel creating a subtle backdrop that perfectly sets off the marble dining table and bold silhouette of the black dining chairs.

The luxurious finishes continue into the Master Bedroom with its decadent, fluted, upholstered headboard and the bronze accents. The second bedroom features a calming colour scheme drawing inspiration from the development’s riverside location. The space created clearly showcases how the apartments at Dockside at Millharbour can be adapted to suit the needs of many buyers, no matter their circumstances.”

James Munson, Head of Marketing at Notting Hill Genesis comments: “Dockside at Millharbour presents a great opportunity for London’s city workers to secure a property near to Canary Wharf. Our new show apartment clearly demonstrates how apartment living shouldn’t be overlooked following the recent COVID-19 lockdown. Apartments at Dockside are spacious and bright, boasting private outside space and fantastic local amenities. Whilst many are still working from home, there are plenty of options for a desk to be situated, without interrupting the flow of the home. Additionally, for those commuting into the office residents here will be well placed to easily reach Canary Wharf and the rest of London.”

Each contemporary property has been designed with the modern-day purchaser in mind, offering a variety of home layouts from open-plan designs, including open-plan kitchen/living areas to properties with separate kitchens, all of which come complete with integrated Smeg appliances.

Generously sized bedrooms benefit from built-in wardrobes and floor to ceiling windows, perfect for watching the sun go down across the iconic London skyline. Storage is plentiful too, with a large closet in the hall as well as a smaller utility cupboard with space for a washer/dryer. Each apartment further benefits from its own private balcony, ideal for bringing the outside in during the spring and summer months and with the added luxury of comfort cooling.

Dockside at Millharbour is just a 10-minute walk from the thriving commercial district of Canary Wharf where there is a variety of shops, from independent boutiques to designer labels across four shopping centres. The O2 Arena is just a stone’s throw away from Dockside at Millharbour via the Jubilee Line at nearby Canary Wharf station, providing year-round entertainment as well as a selection of restaurants and Cineworld cinema, perfect for film lovers!
